About

Frida Botanicals was founded by Ginevra Liptan, MD, a graduate of Tufts University School of Medicine, board-certified in internal medicine, and trained in functional medicine, a holistic approach that blends both western and alternative medicine. After developing fibromyalgia as a medical student, Dr. Liptan spent many years using herself as guinea pig to find successful treatments, and has fine-tuned her approach by treating thousands of patients. She is one of the few clinical specialists in the world to focus solely on fibromyalgia, and directs The Frida Center for Fibromyalgia in Portland, Oregon. She is also the author of The FibroManual: A Complete Fibromyalgia Treatment Guide for You and Your Doctor and The Fibro Food Formula: A Real-Life Approach to Fibromyalgia Relief.

While there are myriad treatments that are safe and effective for fibromyalgia, they can be of widely varying quality and availability. In particular, with things like supplements, pain-relief creams, and CBD products, it can be difficult to know if what you are paying for is sourced from high quality ingredients and has been tested to insure it’s effectiveness. Having found herself confronting these quality issues repeatedly, both for her patients and herself, Dr. Liptan decided to do something about it.

Frida Botanicals carefully selects the best available sources for our products. All our products are made in the U.S., whenever possible using organic and responsibly sourced ingredients. We even test many of them at third-party laboratories and publish the results.

Who is Frida?
Frida Kahlo, an early 20th century Mexican artist, is thought to have suffered from fibromyalgia. She painted a self-portrait with multiple nails piercing her body, which is a pretty accurate description of how this illness can feel. But even while dealing with fibromyalgia, she managed to take the art world by storm and live a huge life. Her life is an inspiration to our work at Frida Botanicals.
